GEMA/HS is collaborating with Barrow County to open a Community Recovery Center (CRC) to support individuals and families affected by the Apalachee High School tragedy that occurred September 4. The CRC will officially open on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Barrow County Leisure Services Center located at 175 2nd Street, Winder, GA 30680. Starting Tuesday, September 10, 2024, the CRC will operate Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The CRC will offer a range of vital resources, including financial assistance, legal services, spiritual and mental health care. These services are made possible through partnerships with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, the American Red Cross, the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Georgia VOAD and various faith-based organizations/houses of worship. Trained volunteers will be available on-site to assist those affected.
For those who wish to contribute, cash donations are preferred. You can donate to help staff and families by visiting barrowcommunityfoundation.org/ barrow-community-crisis-fund/.
