The Training Unit consists of 4 full time officers and other instructors within the agency. Our instructors are certified at everything from General Instructor, Less Lethal, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, CIT, EVOC, to Departmental Training Officer. We have a large Lecture Hall at our Winder office that can seat 50. We also have a Training Center in Bethlehem that consists of a 50’ range, 25’ range, 200’ range, classroom, 3,600 sq. ft. covered Simunition House, 5,500 sq. ft. Mock School, School Bus, Ranger Paw planning hut, Obstacle Course, CS House, and app. 100 acres that can be used for K9 and/or Tracking.

The Training Unit is responsible for creating, organizing, and instructing lesson plans to our officers and assisting other agencies. Training instructs on-site classes and schedules officers for off-site classes at other police academies and the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Training also instructs many community programs and is highly involved with the Georgia Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. Our classes are open to officers from outside agencies.
