Once hired you will receive your paycheck bi-weekly. The pay scale adopted by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office allows your salary to progress based on your years of service and rank (pending yearly approval from the County Commission). Salary
As a Deputy Sheriff, you can start your career with us making $50,420.14 – $76,720.21 annually.
As a Detention Officer, you can start your career with making $45,678.16 – $69,504.72 annually. There is no prior experience needed to be hired as a Detention Officer.

Minimum Requirements
•Must be at least 18 years of age
•Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
•Must possess a valid driver’s license
•Must be a U.S. Citizen
•Honorable discharge if served in the military (if applicable)
•Must be able to work any shift, weekends, and holidays
•Must successfully complete a background investigation, polygraph exam, psychological exam, and medical screening
Physical Requirements
Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant, physical effort. While performing law enforcement work, must be able to defend one’s self from assault and to restrain suspects of varying weights.
