The Narcotics Unit’s primary responsibility is to investigate violations of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act. The unit focuses on dealer level investigations which include tip line complaints, street sales, and long-term drug investigations. Along with these responsibilities, The Narcotics Unit also investigates criminal gang activity in Barrow County. Members of the Narcotics Unit regularly attend specialized training to keep up with the ever-changing drug and gang trends. The Narcotics Unit shares information and works closely with Person and Property Crimes Units. Persons involved in drug-related activity are also typically involved in other crimes, such as robbery and burglary.
